THANK YOU FOR VISITING CHUY'S TRAINS.
NOW IN ITS THIRD YEAR, I HAVE EXTENDED THE LAYOUT ANOTHER THREE FEET
TO ACCOMMODATE THE ADDITION OF A TURNTABLE AND A
FIVE STALL ROUNDHOUSE PLUS "RHYSVILLE", A SMALL TOWN
ON THE EASTSIDE IN HONOR OF OUR NEWEST GRANDCHILD.
THAT SAID, IN THE NEAR FUTURE, THE LAYOUT WILL DEBUT
"CAMMIE'S PLAYLAND", IN HONOR OF OUR NEWEST, NEWEST
GRANDCHILD.
Be advised that my layout is not built as most
conventional HO train layouts, and does not conform to any ongoing standards regarding
model railroading. Rather, it is a fun project I enjoy doing, as it is not yet complete.
It combines the old and the new and is a nostalgic look into the past and is a link to
many of my own experiences .
It
had been over 20 years since I first undertook such a project. My son, Henry James,
and I built our first and only layout in 1977, on a 4x8 sheet of 3/8 inch plywood in the
garage. We lived in the community of Juniper Hills in the country about five miles
southeast of Littlerock, California. The track was in a figure eight configuration with a
couple of turnouts and a mountain on one end. I began my own track layout basically using
the same design.
Now, 20 years later, my wife and I live in Tehachapi, California. I am retired now, having
worked 33 years in the aerospace industry, a job I began in Los Angeles, and which
took me and the family to Florida in support of the Apollo Program, then back to
California where I ended my career working at Edwards Air Force Base and Plant Forty Two
at Palmdale.
Please let me know if you enjoyed this
site as much as I enjoyed creating it! My email address is quepasa@cybersurfers.net Semper Fi! |
